John Castaneda
JV Head Coach
Coach Castaneda started his high school coaching career in 2005 at Notre Dame S.O. with the JV softball team, where he was also an assistant football coach at Notre Dame, which reached the CIF finals in 2005. Coach Castaneda went on to coach at Notre Dame until 2010. He then moved onto Bell-Jeff H.S (Burbank) as the head softball coach, which in his first year won the schools first Santa Cruz league title in 18 yrs, going undefeated In 2011, Coach Castaneda led his team to its 2nd undefeated Santa Cruz league title and a birth to the Cif SS Section Championship game where they were runner ups. In 2013-2014, Coach Castaneda returned to Notre Dame as the Varsity Softball hitting coach. 2015-2016 Coach Castaneda accepted the head JV softball position at Burroughs H.S softball, where his 2016 team won the Pacific league title. After a break from coaching, Coach Castaneda returns as Hart High School JV head coach.
Fredy Alveranga
Offensive Coordinator
is the JV Offensive Coordinator for the football team at Hart High School. His journey in football began as a freshman at Hart High, where he first discovered his passion for the game. After high school, Fredy continued his athletic career at College of the Canyons, playing for two years while pursuing a degree in Kinesiology. Now in his second year of coaching, Last year, he served as both the Defensive Line and Offensive Line coach, leading the team to an impressive 10-0 season. With his dedication and deep understanding of the game, Fredy has stepped into the role of JV Offensive Coordinator, where he continues to inspire and guide his players to success.

Mike Pyne
Assistant Coach
This will be Coach Michael Pyne's first year as an assistant Coach at Hart High School, where he will help coach the linebacker and running back positions. A graduate of Canyon High School, Coach Pyne played a role as an outside linebacker on the 2006 state championship team, an experience that has helped shape his coaching philosophy. Coach Pyne emphasizes the importance of every player performing their role effectively and the collective effort of all 11 players converging on the ball.
Bryan Felt
WR/DB
Coach Felt is a Hart football alumni and is thrilled to join our staff this season. During Felt’s senior season at Hart he started at wide receiver for a team that won a Foothill League championship, was the CIF Southern Section Runner- Up, and earned himself the team’s Most Improved Player award. He played two seasons at Santa Barbara City College. Brian works in the aviation sector and currently resides in Newhall with his wife and two children.
Daniel Underwood
DL
Coach Underwood is a 2003 graduate from Pinson Valley High School in Alabama where he played 2 years of JV/Varsity football. He has been a math teacher for the past 8 years with two of them being for the William S Hart School District. He has also coached youth and flag football. He lives in Santa Clarita with his beautiful wife, Angela, and three boys. He coaches the defensive line for Hart High Junior Varsity.
